The technē of media art, extracted from art papers — a searchable reading of how SIGGRAPH and SIGGRAPH Asia Art Papers describe the making of works.

아트 페이퍼에서 추출한 미디어아트의 테크네. SIGGRAPH · SIGGRAPH Asia 아트 페이퍼가 작품을 어떻게 만들었다고 적었는지, 그리고 무엇을 적지 않았는지 찾는다.

What you can search무엇을 찾을 수 있나

Eleven fields: audience input, sensing, computation, realtime, software, output, venue requirements, reproducibility, concept, process, collaboration. Tools are listed with a role — runtime (runs during the exhibition), production (used only while making it), or training. Do not collapse those roles.

열한 개 필드를 코딩했다. 관객 입력 · 감지 · 연산 · 실시간 · 소프트웨어 · 출력 · 전시 요건 · 재현 가능성 · 개념 · 과정 · 협업. 도구는 역할과 함께 적는다. 런타임은 전시 중에 돌아간 것, 제작은 만들 때만 쓴 것, 학습은 모델을 학습시킨 것이다. 셋을 뭉뚱그리지 않는다.

Ordinary search finds what is present. This corpus also indexes what is not written down: papers that leave venue conditions or release materials unstated, and so on.

검색은 보통 적혀 있는 것을 찾는다. 여기서는 적히지 않은 것으로도 찾을 수 있다. 전시 조건을 안 밝힌 논문, 공개한 자료를 안 남긴 논문을 그렇게 모은다.

Corpus boundary코퍼스 경계

SIGGRAPH and SIGGRAPH Asia art papers, 2009–2026 — 229 work-describing papers. Only works that were written up and accepted as papers. The population is papers, not artworks.

SIGGRAPH · SIGGRAPH Asia 아트 페이퍼 2009–2026, 작품 논문 229편. 논문이 쓰이고 채택된 작품만. 모집단이 작품이 아니라 논문이다.

That tight draw is what makes the counts mean something — and it is worth saying where it reaches. A work shown at Ars Electronica, NIME or ISEA, or documented only in a catalogue or on an artist’s site, is outside this corpus, not missing from it. Finding nothing here says nothing about that work.

표본을 좁게 잡았기 때문에 숫자를 믿을 수 있다. 그래서 어디까지가 사정권인지도 밝혀 둔다. Ars Electronica · NIME · ISEA 에서 선보인 작품, 도록이나 작가 웹사이트에만 남은 작품은 이 코퍼스 바깥에 있는 것이지 빠진 것이 아니다. 여기서 안 나온다는 사실만으로는 그 작품에 대해 아무것도 말할 수 없다.

What “absent” means「적히지 않음」의 뜻

Not stated in the paper (whether it existed is unknown). Absent is a property of the document, not a claim that the work “had no X.”

논문에 적히지 않음 (있었는지 없었는지는 알 수 없음). absent 는 문서에 대한 표시이지 작품에 대한 판단이 아니다. 「없었다」로 바꾸어 쓰지 않는다.

Coverage to report보고할 때 쓸 값

Prefer human-verified rates over machine-only counts: venue requirements about 24.2% (21.1–27.3%); reproducibility reporting 7–14% as a lower bound, not a point estimate. Do not generalize from cells smaller than 30 papers.

기계가 센 값보다 사람이 확인한 값을 쓴다. 전시 요건은 약 24.2% (21.1–27.3%), 재현 가능성은 점 추정치가 아니라 하한이므로 7–14%로 적는다. 분모가 30편이 안 되면 일반화하지 않는다.

What you can reuse무엇을 가져다 쓸 수 있나

What we made is yours to reuse. The field coding, the notes and the counts are CC BY 4.0 — credit us and go ahead.

The papers’ own sentences are not ours to give. So a quotation stops at 20 words per field and carries only where in the paper it came from. When you need more than that, follow the DOI and read it at the ACM Digital Library.

ACM blocks scripted access, and this site does not crawl it. We ask the same of anything built on this data.

우리가 만든 것은 가져다 써도 된다. 필드 코딩과 요약, 집계 수치는 CC BY 4.0 이다. 출처만 밝히면 된다.

논문의 문장은 우리 것이 아니다. 그래서 인용은 필드마다 20단어에서 끊고, 논문의 어느 대목에서 가져왔는지만 함께 남긴다. 그보다 더 필요하면 DOI 를 눌러 ACM Digital Library 에서 원문을 본다.

ACM 은 기계적 접근을 막아 두었고, 이 사이트도 긁지 않는다. 이 데이터를 쓰는 쪽도 그렇게 해 주기를 바란다.
